Introduction
Windows Small Business Server 2008 is the latest product in Microsoft's server suite targeted for small business customers (up to 75 users). This replaces the previous edition first launched in 2003 and last updated in 2006 with the release of SBS 2003 R2.
SBS 2008 is designed from the ground up to run the entire network infrastructure for a small business. Whilst it packages together a number of products and applications at a discounted price, the suite also integrates them tightly - allowing unified management and control from a single console. It is this targeted combination that provides the key selling point for the product.
As was the case with SBS 2003, SBS 2008 comes in 2 different versions known as 'Standard Edition' and 'Premium Edition'. Whilst both are based on Microsoft's Windows Server 2008 platforms and include Microsoft Exchange, the Premium edition offers one additional server license for slightly larger or more complex businesses.
